Kanc-Passaconaway Loop from Conway Village

Thursday April 5th, 2012

Looks like Thursday will be a fine day for an early spring ride! Sunny and low 50's.

Let's do a short ride from Conway Village up the Kanc to Lower Falls then down Passaconaway Road back to Conway Village. This way we have a tailwind and a downhill ride back to the car. The Kanc has very little traffic in this season and Passaconaway is still gated, so we should have a quiet ride. For a longer option, ride up to Rocky Gorge.

Meet in Conway Village in the parking lot behind the Mountain Center Physical Therapy and the Laconia Savings Bank, near the junction of route 16 and 153.

Ready to Ride at 10:00 am.

Total distance: 15-20 miles depending on how far up the Kanc you travel before returning on Passaconaway Road

Also -- if you would like to ride on Saturday....

There is a Pancake Breakfast at the Bartlett Elementary School on Saturday morning from 8:00 to 11:00. The maple syrup served with the pancakes is made by the 6th graders in the sugarhouse behind the school. All you can eat for $6 (adults) $4 (kids).

How about starting a ride out of the school parking lot (in front of the library) at 10:00 am?

If you want to energize on pancakes beforehand, meet at the school at 9:00.

Either park near the school, or, if you want to ride a bit first, meet at the Attitash parking lot, ready to ride to the pancakes at 8:45 am.

Ride options? One group could do Bear Notch Road, up and back (16 miles round trip from Attitash). Another group can do the River Road and Stillings Grant (11 flat miles round trip from Attitash). More miles? Do Bear Notch up and over and back (26 miles RT) or go up to Crawford Notch.

Put on your calendar: The Mount Washington Valley Bicycling Club Annual Spring Gathering at the Moat is April 24th starting at 5:30 pm: www.mwvbicyclingclub.org
